Why Work With a Travel Advisor? Because It’s Always About the Relationship
Technology makes travel look easy. With a few taps on your phone, you can compare flights, scroll through resorts, and skim endless reviews written by strangers. Artificial intelligence can spit out sample itineraries in seconds. On the surface, planning a vacation in today’s world feels simpler than ever.
But here’s the truth: booking a trip is not the same thing as creating a journey. The internet can give you options, but it can’t give you wisdom. It can’t walk in your shoes, listen to your dreams, or tell you what a place actually feels like when you step off the plane. That’s where a travel advisor makes all the difference.
Since 2015, Kent and I have built our business on one belief: travel should be seamless, immersive, and deeply personal. Whether it’s a honeymoon in the Caribbean, a river cruise through Europe, or a bucket list trip to Ireland, our work is about turning stressful logistics into lasting memories.
And in today’s world of AI and apps, that human connection is more valuable than ever.
The Gift of Time and Clarity

Every trip starts with a dream — and then quickly collides with the internet. Hours disappear into comparing flights, deciphering hotel reviews, and scrolling through “best of” lists that all say the same thing. For many travelers, research creates more confusion than clarity.
That’s exactly what happened to Katherine, who came to us overwhelmed while trying to coordinate a multi generational tour of Ireland. She wanted to give her six siblings and their families a trip they’d never forget, but instead found herself buried in endless tabs and conflicting advice. We sat down together, sorted through her priorities, and crafted an itinerary that included castles, countryside drives, and coastal towns that matched everyone’s wish list. Katherine was able to step back from the stress and enjoy the trip alongside her family — which was the point all along.
Time is precious. A good travel advisor gives it back to you.
Connections You Can’t Find Online

AI can scrape the internet, but it can’t replace relationships built over years. We’ve cultivated partnerships with cruise lines, resorts, and tour operators who know us personally. That means when we call, doors open.
Take Susan, for example. She and her husband booked a luxury ten night Silversea cruise through us. Their friends booked the same itinerary with another advisor. On the surface, both couples had the same vacation. But behind the scenes, our connections secured Susan and her husband a personal concierge on board and a complimentary private tour at one of the ports. Their friends didn’t have access to those extras.
It’s not about chasing discounts. It’s about crafting experiences you won’t find in a search bar.
A Safety Net When the Unexpected Happens
Travel is full of surprises — and not all of them are pleasant. Flights get canceled. Luggage takes detours. Passports go missing. When those moments hit, the last thing you want to do is spend hours on hold with a call center.
Lauren and Casey learned that on the eve of their honeymoon. After a destination wedding in Colorado, Lauren realized her passport had disappeared just two days before their flight to the Bahamas. Instead of panic, she called us. We guided her through the expedited process and had everything lined up so they boarded their plane as planned. Their memories of that trip are filled with turquoise water and island sunsets, not passport nightmares.
Having someone you trust on your side means you’re never traveling alone.
Designed Around You

No two travelers are alike. Some want romance, others crave adventure, and many just want a stress free beach escape with their kids. Our job is to listen carefully and design trips that reflect who you are.
Robert came to us with a plan to propose in Tuscany. He wanted it to be unforgettable but wasn’t sure how to make it happen. We found a villa with a balcony overlooking the vineyards, arranged for a violinist to play in the courtyard, and hired a photographer to capture the moment. When Robert got down on one knee, every detail was in place. That’s not an itinerary. That’s a memory for life.
Unlocking the World by Sea
Of all the ways to travel, cruises hold a special place in our hearts — and in our work. We’ve helped countless clients discover the magic of river cruising through Europe, luxury small ship journeys, and grand ocean adventures. Cruises offer a unique blend of ease and exploration: unpack once, but wake up in a new destination every morning.
Our firsthand experience on the ships we recommend means we can give honest advice about what works best for you. We know which cabins have the best views, which excursions are worth your time, and how to navigate the details so you can simply enjoy the voyage.
One client described their cruise to Norway and Iceland as “a dream, an outdoor classroom, and a cultural adventure rolled into one.” That trip came together not just because of the itinerary, but because we knew the ship, the excursions, and the little touches that elevated the entire experience.
Boots on the Ground Matter

There’s no substitute for firsthand knowledge. AI can tell you what’s popular. We can tell you where the locals actually go for dinner, which resort staff treat guests like family, or why one side of the island has calmer waters than the other. We’ve walked those streets, stepped onto those ships, and navigated those airports ourselves.
That perspective is priceless. It’s the difference between seeing a destination and experiencing it.

More Than a Booking
Being a travel advisor has never been about transactions. For us, it’s about relationships. Over the years, many of our clients have become friends. We’ve celebrated anniversaries, honeymoons, family reunions, and birthdays alongside them. We’ve seen children grow up trip by trip.
Travel is about more than getting from point A to point B. It’s about creating experiences that shape your story. That’s why we do what we do, and why we believe the human touch matters more than ever in today’s digital age.
Thank you to Gary and Shelley for inviting us to share our perspective here. We’re grateful for the chance to remind people that while technology has changed travel, relationships will always be at the heart of it.
